With the advent of digital music distribution, playlists and single mp3 sales, artists are no longer restricted to indiviudal albums of a finite number of songs.
As a recording
artist myself, I've come to
recognize—even rely on—the elliptical cycles of inspiration that can take months, even years to come back around.
Enter the "Vertical Album".
These are playlists of songs produced over many years that work together
depending on the listener's conditions,
e.g. road trips,
creative projects, intimate encounters.
I've sorted my work into silos of various conditions and add to them as I produce new material. Here are the first four.
